Terms of Service

Inner Peace Counseling Center

By accessing this website, scheduling services, or communicating with Inner Peace Counseling Center (“we,” “our,” or “us”), you agree to the following Terms and Conditions.

1. Scope of Services

Inner Peace Counseling Center provides:

  • Individual counseling

  • Couples counseling

  • Family counseling

  • Telehealth therapy sessions

  • In-person therapy sessions

  • Mental health consulting services

All services are provided by licensed professionals authorized to practice in the State of North Carolina and are governed by our Professional Disclosure Statement and signed intake agreements.


2. No Medical Emergency Services

Our services are not intended for emergency or crisis situations.

If you are experiencing:

  • Suicidal thoughts

  • Immediate danger to yourself or others

  • A mental health emergency

Call 911 immediately or go to the nearest emergency room.

You may also contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by dialing 988.


3. Appointments, Fees & Payments

  • Payment is due at the time services are rendered unless otherwise agreed in writing.

  • Accepted payment methods include major credit and debit cards.

  • Missed appointments or cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged the full session fee.

  • Declined cards or returned payments may result in additional administrative fees.

Specific billing terms are outlined in your signed intake and financial agreements.


4. Telehealth Services

Telehealth sessions are conducted through secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms.

By participating in telehealth services, you acknowledge:

  • The potential limitations of virtual therapy

  • Your responsibility to maintain privacy in your physical environment

  • That technical disruptions may occur

  • That emergency response limitations may exist in virtual settings

Telehealth services comply with applicable North Carolina state laws and federal regulations.


5. SMS & Electronic Communication Policy

Description of SMS Use Cases

By providing your mobile phone number and explicitly opting in to receive text messages from Inner Peace Counseling Center, you consent to receive SMS communications related to:

  • Appointment reminders and confirmations

  • Scheduling and rescheduling notifications

  • Billing and payment-related notifications

  • Telehealth session instructions and access details

  • Administrative updates related to your services

Message frequency varies depending on your appointments and engagement with services.

Consent to receive SMS messages is not a condition of purchasing or receiving counseling services.


Opt-Out Instructions

You may opt out of SMS communications at any time by:

After you send STOP, you will receive a confirmation message and will no longer receive SMS messages unless you re-enroll.

For assistance, reply HELP to any message or contact our office directly.

Opting out of SMS messages does not affect your ability to receive counseling services.


Message & Data Rate Disclosure

Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier plan. Inner Peace Counseling Center does not charge for SMS messages; however, your carrier’s standard messaging and data rates may apply.


Carrier Liability Disclaimer

Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed, undelivered, or misdirected messages.


6. Email & Non-Emergency Communications

Non-emergency communications may occur via phone, email, or SMS.

You acknowledge that:

  • Email and text communications are not guaranteed to be fully secure

  • These methods should not be used for urgent or emergency matters

  • Administrative communications outside of session time may be billable when applicable


7. Social Media Policy

To protect client confidentiality and maintain therapeutic boundaries:

  • We do not accept friend or follow requests from clients

  • We do not provide therapy or clinical advice via social media platforms

  • We do not engage in direct messaging for therapeutic purposes


8. Intellectual Property

All website content, including text, graphics, logos, branding, and materials, is the property of Inner Peace Counseling Center and may not be copied, reproduced, distributed, or modified without prior written permission.


9. Limitation of Liability

Inner Peace Counseling Center is not liable for:

  • Individual therapy outcomes

  • Technical failures or communication disruptions

  • Misuse or misinterpretation of website content

Therapeutic outcomes vary by individual and are not guaranteed.


10. Age Restriction (18+)

Our counseling services and SMS communications are intended for individuals 18 years of age or older.

Individuals under 18 may only receive services and electronic communications with verified parental or legal guardian consent in accordance with North Carolina law.

Parental or guardian consent must be documented prior to the initiation of services or electronic communications.


11. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of North Carolina.


12. Privacy Policy

Your use of our services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how personal and health information is collected, used, and protected.
